UAE VAT Return Due Date
Enter the last day of your VAT tax period. Shows the date the FTA must receive your return and payment, and estimates the late-filing and late-payment penalties.
The 28th day after the tax period
The FTA must receive the VAT return and the payable tax no later than the 28th day after the end of the tax period, unless the FTA directs another date (VAT Executive Regulation, Article 64(1) and (3)). The standard tax period is three calendar months; the FTA may assign a shorter or longer one (Article 62). A quarter ending 31 March is due by 28 April; one ending 30 June by 28 July.
If the 28th day is not a business day (a Saturday, Sunday or federal official holiday), the deadline moves to the next business day (Tax Procedures Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 28 of 2022, Article 49(2)). The tool moves weekend dates for you and reminds you to check holidays.
Penalties (Cabinet Decision No. 40 of 2017, as amended by Cabinet Decision No. 129 of 2025)
- Late return: AED 1,000 the first time and AED 2,000 for a repeat within 24 months.
- Late payment, from 14 April 2026: 14% a year on the unpaid tax, charged monthly for each month or part of a month, from the day after the due date and on the same date each month. Where a month has no matching date, the charge falls on the first day of the next month. The tool charges 14% ÷ 12 for each month or part month.
- For tax that was due before 14 April 2026, the late-payment estimate shows "Being verified": we have not found an official text on how the new rule applies to tax already overdue.
Worked example: quarter ending 31 March 2026, due 28 April 2026. AED 100,000 paid on 15 June 2026: charges on 29 April and 29 May = 2 × 100,000 × 14% ÷ 12 = AED 2,333.33.
This is an estimate, not tax advice. The FTA decides the actual penalty.
